Q.  Are there any people who should avoid having hair extensions?

A: YES - If you suffer alopecia, psoriasis, or other hair/scalp disorders, or are on any current medication or undergoing medical treatment detrimental to your scalp health and/or hair growth.  Also, you shoul think twice about hair extensions if you do not have the time or the inclination to spend time on your hair.  If you’re unsure whether you are a good candidate for hair extensions, give us a call and come in for an obligation free consultation.  The technician can advise you on whether your hair is compatible to hair extensions.

Q.  How do I know my Hair Extension technician is a professional?

A:  Now this is a hard one. Anyone can lie to you, so be aware. Ask to see photos (before/after). Ask if you can contact one of his/her long term clients. Most hair extensions clients like to remain anonymous but there is always at least one who would love to let the world know what a great job they had done on their hair. Ask the technician how often the average client needs to replace the hair (3, 6 months, 2 years etc).

***

More importantly, after reading this - if you know more than the professional, then you should find yourself another hair extension technician!

Q.  Does it hurt? Will it pull my hair out?

A:  No, no NO!!! If it hurts get out of there! The Extension technician should apply the extensions  firmly but comfortably. The tension should be even all over your head with no bonds pulling or hurting. Do not put up with someone telling you it has to be really tight in order to be secure. Pulling your hair out is not the idea. You will know you have something on your head for the first day or two but after that you won't even feel that they are there.

Q.  I don't want my hair extensions to be noticeable as my hair is very thin / fine.  What can I do?

A:  Not everyones hair is the same and at Long Locks Hair Extensions we appreciate that one technique does not suit all hair types.  At Long Locks Hair Extensions, we have a large range of hair colours and types to choose from with several different applications to suit different hair types.  Whether your hair is thin or fine, short, or medium or thick volume; we can apply beautiful long extensions to your hair that will look and feel so natural, only you will know they are extensions!  We will thicken and lengthen your thin hair to give you long luxurious hair.  Our bonds are lightweight, very discreet and we will ensure the bonds are concealed within your own hair.  We match our hair extensions to blend perfectly with your colour and style.

Q. Will Long Locks Hair Extensions damage my own hair?

A:  No - All of our application methods are gentle on your real hair.  Providing you follow our 'Aftercare' instructions, neither you or the extensions will damage your own hair.

**

Q. How long does the hair extension application take?

A:  The time required can vary depending on the type of application you are having and how many extensions you require.  Once the application is determined we can give you an indication of how long it will take. For a full head the different applications can take between 2 - 5 hours

**

Q.  Will you show me how to care for my extensions?

A:  YES - Long Locks Hair Extensions will provide you with full 'Aftercare' written information to ensure you get the most from your beautiful hair extensions.  We also offer a FREE monthly check up to ensure you are caring for your hair extensions correctly.  If you have any questions or concerns at any time, we are here to help so please feel free to contact us!

**

Q.  How long will my hair extensions last?

A:  How long your extensions will stay in beautiful condition is determined 6.0; Trident/4.0; GTB6; FunWebPur extensions.  We have many clients that are able to re-use the same extensions on a second application, however this depends on the individual.  Generally your hair extensions must be 'moved up' or re-applied every 3 - 4 months.

**

Q.  Can I re-use my hair extensions?

A:  YES - It is possible to re-use the hair extensions in most cases. The on-going quality of your hair extensions  depends on how well you follow the after care instructions.

Q.  What do I do if I decide I don't want hair extensions anymore?

A: Should you decide you would like your hair extensions removed, simply give us a call to book the removal of your hair extensions.  You should not attempt to remove your own hair extensions as it may result in damage to your own hair as you do not know the correct technique and products required to remove the hair extensions.  Long Locks Hair Extensions takes no responsibility for hair extensions removed by anyone other than your Long Locks Hair Extensions technician.

**

Q.  What will it cost me to have hair extensions applied?

A:  You may as well ask... how long is a piece of string? If you want cheap hair extensions, someone will do it for you for a few hundred dollars while others will charge thousands for better quality. Ask the questions.

Work out what kind of hair you need. Look at your budget. Remember - there are after-care and up-keep costs involved.

 **

Don't pay thousands of dollars for cheap hair.  Don't expect good hair for peanuts. Make sure you see the exact type of hair to be used first. You will pay more for better quality hair (European or Virgin Russian).

 **

I believe you should get the best possible product and for that you will pay a premium price. But your hair will look great, it will last and you will feel terrific!  To ensure an accurate quotation, please call us to book an obligation free consultation.  At this time, we will discuss the look you want and what is required to achieve it.  We can then provide you with a fixed quote for your extensions based on this information.  Phone Sharon on 0415 040 443 or email: longlockshe@optusnet.com.au and include your contact phone number.

If you have already purchased hair extensions from elsewhere and require application, we can do that for you also... it is simply an hourly rate charge to apply pre-purchased hair extensions. (Note: Long Locks Hair Extensions takes no responsibility for the hair extensions if pre-purchased from an outside supplier)

Q.  Why does the price of hair extensions differ so much from one salon to the next?

A:  There are several answers to this question.  Prices can vary depending on:

  • Technique used to apply - Keratin, Hot tubes, beaded, easy-loops
  • Where you are having your extensions applied - City / Salon prices can vary up to $2000 per head.  At Long Locks Hair Extensions, we don't charge city OR salon prices.  We operate out of a small modern and comfortable salon, keeping our over-heads down which means we can pass those savings onto our clients. Our priority is to provide competitive prices for the highest quality hair extensions in Brisbane, ensuring our clients remain happy and continue to use our services for years to come.
  • The quality of hair used - Long Locks Hair Extensions are of the finest quality 100% Remy Real Human Hair.  There are many hair extensions services that will promise you a full head of long luxurious hair extensions from $250.00.  Whilst the price might be great, the quality definitely isn't.  The extensions you get for this type of money are not Remy quality and therefore will not have the cuticles intact or travelling in the same direction.  The hair will almost certainly tangle, matt and look dry and frizzy within the first two weeks of application.
  • The 'type' of hair used - Long Locks Hair Extensions are of the finest quality 100% Remy Human Hair.  They look and feel as natural as your own hair, only better!  Some cheaper options being advertised are Synthetic hair which is less expensive than '100% Human Hair but as you would recall from your 'Barbie' days, the hair can quickly become 'stretched', 'frizzy' and look noticeably different to your own real hair.

Q.  Why have I been told by other salons that my hair extensions can last 6 - 12 months without any moving up or re-application?

A:  Long Locks Hair Extensions cannot comment on why you may have been given this information.  However we will say this:  We DO NOT tell our clients anything un-true to get a sale.  Different qualities of hair extensions will last longer than others however all hair extensions will require moving up at regular intervals generally anywhere between 8 and 16 weeks depending on quality and hair growth.  We tell all of our clients the truth about their hair extensions to get the utmost quality and use from them.  We use only 100% A Grade Remy Human Hair which MUST be re-applied every 3 - 4 months to ensure no damage occurs to your hair or the extensions and to give your extensions that natural look and beautiful feel.  If you were to leave 100% Remy Human hair extensions in your hair for 6 - 12 months without moving up or re-applying, the bonds would certainly move down with your hair growth and become difficult to handle, style and straighten.  They would easily knot-up, would not look natural and would almost certainly result in damage to your own hair.  Also, as the hair extensions have been extensively processed prior to applying to your hair, with or without costly regular treatments, the quality of the extension would almost certainly deteriorate, leaving you with lack-luster, split ends and dry, frizzy hair extensions.

(As we do not deal with synthetic (barbie-doll) hair, we are not able to comment on this type of application.)

Q.  How long can my extensions be?

A: You can have any length you want up to about 24". Anything longer than this puts extra weight on your scalp which may lead to uneven pressure and damage to your own hair. The best looking hair extensions for average height women are usually around 22" or less. Our most popular length is 18" which is around your bra line.

 **

Q.  Can I style, straighten or curl my hair extensions?

A: YES – Because we only use the finest quality A Grade 100% REMY HUMAN HAIR you can style your hair extensions just as you would your own hair. NOTE: YOU MUST ENSURE you do not go over the hair extension bonds with any heated hair styling equipment

 **

Q.  Do you use 'GLUE' to attach the hair extensions?

A: NO - Definitely not! The most common mistake many clients make is assuming the wax bond is a 'GLUE' product.  Long Locks Hair Extensions only use a Keratin Wax bond which is gentle on the hair and has absolutely NO negative affects on your natural hair.

 **

Q.  Can I brush my hair and hair extensions?

A: Yes - There is a technique required which the Long Locks Hair Extension Technician will teach you on your first application, and because we care about the ongoing quality of your hair, Long Locks Hair extensions provides a FREE specifically designed hair extension brush on your first application.  Alternatively you can use a "Soft Bristle" brush which will be gently on your extensions.

**

Q.  Can I wear my hair up?

A: Sure, the Extensions should not be applied less than an inch from the edge of your hairline and so your hair under this point covers the extensions while you wear it in pigtails, ponytails, french twists, braids etc.

**

Q.  Can I have the extensions 'permed' or 'straightened'?

A: There is much controversy on this subject.  As the hair we use is 100% natural human hair, you can treat it as you would your own... HOWEVER! You must remember that ALL hair extensions go through a rigourous treatment process before reaching your own head, and perming or straightening your extensions once applied will be damaging to the extensions as well as your own hair.  At Long Locks Hair Extensions, we supply straight, wavy or curly hair, so the best idea to keep your hair extensions in perfect condition for longer is to have your hair straightened or permed PRIOR to having the extensions applied and then we can match our extensions to your hair :)

**

Q.  Can I have my hair extensions and hair-roots coloured or touched up?

A:  YES - Long Locks Hair Extensions can be coloured or highlighted as you desire and your roots can be safely touched up when required.  Hair dye will not damage the hair extension bonds if coloured correctly. We do NOT encourage bleaching or lightening your hair extensions as this will damage the extension.

**

Q.  Can I let my hair dry naturally after Shampooing and Conditioning?

A: YES - You must dry the hair extension bonds from your scalp to approx 2 inches down the hair shaft, however the hair from 2 inches below the bonds to the tips can be left to dry naturally.  Your hair extensions MUST BE DRIED COMPLETELY prior to laying down or going to bed and you must also plait your hair prior to going to bed to ensure the extensions do not become tangled or matted whilst sleeping.

**

Q.  Where do the hair extensions come from?

A:  Long Locks Hair Extensions only uses quality 100% Remy human hair extensions. The hair comes from several countries such as Russia, Europe, India and Korea.
